Melissa Wills, PhD science editor & writer
In a microscope, glass — vitro in Latin — bends light to create clear images. That's what I do as an academic editor: I help researchers resolve their ideas into language that is clear, focused, and effective.
Are you stuck on a manuscript that won’t come together? Staring down a dissertation deadline? Stressing over personal statements for graduate programs or medical schools? Wherever you are, whatever you’re stuck on, I can help.
I’m trained in microbiology and English, and I’ve been teaching writing-intensive college courses for over a decade. Working with me means you'll have someone who understands both technical details and writing strategy. I'll be a steady presence from start to finish, whether you need help untangling your ideas, planning your writing, or refining your language.
I work with researchers in the life sciences and medicine, as well as humanities scholars whose work connects with science. I provide editing and coaching services for journal manuscripts, theses and dissertations, presentations, application statements, and other academic documents, as well as public engagement projects.
